Hey azazil, you need to be a bit more specific on what you are asking for. If you mean mod by that name, as in what goes into your custom orange or purple gear, then Cybertech is the skill that makes those. The term mods is used widely to refer to anything that goes into said armor or weapons. If you are looking for another item such as augments let me know.

Sorry bout that, but yes I was meaning items for orange gear. Armor, mods, and enhancements. Haven't really messed with the crafting much, but with the prices on gtn for lvl 55 stuff. It has opened my eyes to crafting. Was never a problem before on spending money on item mods til I got to 55, but 1.5 mill is a lot for one item to me.

I find cybertech was the best starting place for me as it handled crafting armorings and mods. Then depending what my next alt was if it was a force user I went with arcfice. And if it wasn't I went with armstech. Orange gr was pretty cheap to buy so I would only need one set and now with the collections I don't have to buy hardly anything.

Couple of things to add here. You mentioned level 55 armorings, mods, enhancements. You need to know that the level 55 items cannot be crafted by buying a schematic through the normal trainer. Those patterns have to be learned through reverse enginerring...breaking down a item for it's matts, of high level armor pieces bought with comms. So my point is, there is a reason why those level 55 pieces are priced so high, they cost a lot of comms and or credits to get the schematic, and then the mats are only gained through running ops. So if your taking up crafting just to make your level 55 items, I would suggest not doing that, you will be disappointed.
However, I love crafting and really enjoyed it, still do. And, I have made millions of credits from crafting. I became a master crafter a couple of months ago ( this is obtained from gaining 450 skill on all crew skills ) so I highly recommend you give it a go. As uncreative suggested Cybertech is a really good one to start with, and you will make a lot of credits from selling off the GTN, as everyone needs the parts you make...armorings, and mods. Cyber also makes droid parts, ear pieces, and ship parts. I would also suggest creating a alt and get them on the fleet, so he can run missions for you to gather mats. Hit all of the craft vendors on the fleet if you haven't already to gain that info into your codex, and that will also tell you what crew skill goes with what gathering skill. Have fun with it!

Biochem = fast credits. Implants seem to be quite rare to drop and the one given by quests aren't so good. You can put a nice price for a purple implant in the GTN. People will pay instead of running through the same FP 4 times in a row.

Biochem is good, no doubt. Especially for endgame. And the nice reusable medpacks and stims are great...for that toon only keep in mind. Sure you can try and sell the reusable's, but the buyer has to have that level of biochem as well, so it doesn't really work out to sell them. The only downfall with biochem is you almost HAVE to get bioanalysis with it, and that takes up another one of your 3 crew skill slots. Another option is to create a alt just for Bioanlysis..that's what I did. The matts from that also sell well.

My main (55 Sorc) is Synth. Have a 40 Vanguard with Armormech and now the Operative with Biochem as I can provide him with set pieces made by the Vanguard and I read some criticism towards Armmech. Apparently doesn't help much as the loot weapons are almost same stats as the one you craft.

IMHO... You get a set of orange mod-able gear for you and your companions. You use Cybertech to craft upgrade mods and armor. Purchase the enhancements from your planetary vendors and/or the AH. Same with your barrels and/or hilts, just purchase them. I found artifice a PIA to level since the fragments are so hard to farm. Ore is easy to farm vs. archeology. Another bonus with Cyber are the ear pieces.
BioChem is another great profession. The impants that you can craft are great and the mats are a snap to farm up. The consumables are great also. The extra stats you get from the consumables are wonderful. Something to consider is that you can often purchase the purple reusable stim kits and med kits on the AH for cheep. This saves you from having to do the disenchant/breakdown shuffle. You can also share those with your alts since they are not bind on use.
IMHO, armormech/synthweaver/armstech are a waste of resources. While I did level up all of the professions while I played, I spent so much capital on them. Also, once you hit max level, there was a disappointed feeling with those professions. The crafted gear was useless compared to my modded orange gear.
The modding system in SWTOR makes all other gear irrelevant, except for looks.

Well I'm halfway through my Biochem leveling and have made over 200k from selling implants. I put them kind of cheap in the GTN so they sell faster. Should I sell for more? Im selling green implants 5k, blue for 7.5k and purple for 10k Those are the level 25 ones. Double the price for the level 33 - 37

Every server's economy is different. Biochem is really nice at higher levels and will be a steady income for you. The stims, medpacks, and adrenals will always sell for you if you find the right price point. Also, the reusable items are really nice if this is your main character...it is worth RE'ing to get to those for your own personal use. ( these are the purple schematics you gain by RE'ing blue med packs, and stims ) Did you use a guide to Biochem? Or just do it on your own?

I leveled a Sorcerer all the way till 55 whilst doing Synthweaving. I actually read about fast leveling in the old site you guys had. But by then I was around 400ish so I didn't apply it.
Biochem as a profitable ocupation doesn't need a fast level guide. It needs investment. If it's gonna be a steady income, I need to craft for every class at green, blue and purple. That's how I saw it when I picked it and that's how I've been rolling so far.

Many people like to take a craft to max in as short as time as possible to benefit from the high end items. Also, by using a guide it list the least amount of matts needed to complete it, therefore saving you money in the long run.
